I love sweets-I'm a natural full blown sweet tooth. I love ice cream, cake, cookies, everything and anything with sugar. Well, not until now have I started facing the consequences on bingeing upon these types of foods constantly...weight gain, lol. So I went on a hunt to find low fat/low calorie/low carb/low sugar/low whatever novelties & I tried...

Now I know some of you health gurus out there are going to say things like oh, those things have bad ingredients, etc etc...but if you're not eating them often, then they won't be harmful to you. Just a treat once in a while :) I also checked the ingredients of the healthy choice ice creams and found nothing bad.

Let's start off with the No Pudge brand...

No Pudge Ice Cream
These come in two varieties-low fat and low carb.

Low Fat:

I tried the giant chocolate eclair. Toppings/crumbs were sparse, but the ice cream was nice and thick. The bar was huge, too. No pudge ice cream definitely makes the biggest ice cream bars with the least calories.

Low Carb:

I tried the cookies and cream bar and the giant fudgy bar. Both very delicious. The cookies and cream bar had little "cookies", though. That didn't really bother me.

Smart Ones Ice Cream
smartones.com . . .

I LOVE peanut butter. I thought this was kind of small and had a lot of calories (210) but I wasn't sure how much fat it had. It was just okay.

This had low fat ice cream, but the chocolate was sparse.

I also tried the cookies and cream bars (not listed on their website) which were really good and large in size.

Healthy Choice Ice Cream

This fudge bar is soooo good, but a lot smaller than the no pudge brand and more in calories. I didn't find anything bad in the ingredients and they use real sugar.

Delicious as well. Ice cream was very thick and creamy

This was my favorite-I love coffee, esp with chocolate chips in it.

Trying this next...

I haven't tried the "no pudge" cars, but I have tried and/or looked at some of the HEalthy Choice and Smart ones deserts. Many of the Smart one's desserts now contain sucralose, so you want to watch for that (I used to love the sundae cups before they changed the formula.
The healthy choice bars are not a healthy choice at all. They contain high fructose corn syrup and if I remember, partially hydrogenated oils. Yikes! It will be very hard to be "healthy" with those. A better choice I've found is Bryers heart healthy ice cream bars. They don't have any unatural ingedients and are very tasty.

I don't think healthy choice makes the best ice cream (taste wise) but some of it is definitely a smarter choice health wise. I like the caramel butter pecan and the vanilla, no bad ingredients there. Avoid the kind with candy or chocolate pieces and the chocolate ice cream, those contain partially hydrogenated oils. You might want to check any kinds other than the caremel butter pecan and the vanilla to be sure.
PErsonally, bryers natural vanilla is in my opinion, the best tasting ice cream around, and just as good for you. They also have a "light" if you would prefer that, but even the regular is low in calories as far as ice cream goes.

I haven't tried the rice dream bars, but I do know that rice dream products are healthy and tasty, so I would imagine those would be too.

Can you buy these items at any old grocery store, or do you need to go to a health food store?

peace out

I love the No Pudge brownies. I found another brand - either Duncan Hines or Betty Crocker (DH, I'm thinking) of low fat brownies that are equally as good. And inexpensive - 1.99 for the box, and you only add water.

60 calories? I'm down with that. It's pretty awesome when an ice cream bar has less calories than your average apple. I'll look for them on my next sweet-tooth attack.

I love Healthy Choice ice cream! My family has eaten it for years. They make the best rocky road. :)

My mom found these relly good ice cream bars recently, and I think they're lowfat Breyers, but I don't recall. It's been a while since I've been home. But they have a chocolate-and-nuts shell and vanilla ice cream. I'll look in the store and see if I can find them again.
