ok with the recent photo thing that just went on i just have a suggestion.. cant we make the photos that are uploaded here private? in the sense that we usually right click an image to download it and save it into our comp rite? but some websites have their pics protected so when u right click it just gives the warning that "this image cannot be downloaded" or something along those lines. cant dance.net do that too? then pple wont be so afraid to post their pics...and pple outside of dance.net cant download our pics. just asking cos i dun exactly know how that's done.. just a suggestion...yup ok that was really longwinded sorry in one of those writing moods...

It is easy to defeat such a scheme: just turn off Javascript. Even without disabling Javascript, they could just press "print scrn" and copy it to the clipboard. Worst case, they could take a picture of the screen with a digital camera.

Few solutions would work short of requiring dancers to confirm the school they attend. And that is an expensive and time-consuming task which would still not work 100%.

The best solution is understanding the risks and deciding if the benefits outweigh the risk. It's the same sort of decision you make everytime you wander outside your house or dance in public. There may be people whom you don't want to view or record you, but it is a risk you face.

At least on the Internet, you can protect yourself by not providing any personal information. In real life, people can more easily stalk you by simply following you home.

The simple truth is, if members are afraid of people sharing their photos or words with other people, they should simply not post it on the Internet. If people can easily justify sharing copyrighted music on Napster or Gnutella, why would they view photos any differently? I'm not condoning this behavior, but I understand the reality of it.
