Beautiful shots of you! I love to see someone who is good at Ballet do Ballet. That would be you and my niece. I should have said people I know who do Ballet.

She's not having hip replacement. My mom just told me the surgery is so minor that it takes half an hour to do and she goes home. I'm just praying that what is supposed to be minor and not take long doesn't turn out to be something more serious once they do it. My sister, her mom, is going up there to be w/her. She can't dance for about a week and she can't fly and then she will be coming home for a vacation. She had tons of problems w/a roomie who was bullying her. She would say to my niece that she was a terrible dancer and she would never get anywhere. She wouldn't pay her share of the rent in the apartment and sometimes not show up for class. My niece would call her mom crying because she couldn't stand the abuse. When my sister called her parents they got my niece out of the lease. Turns out from what my sister said she's done this before to other roomies she's had. I don't know who my niece lives w/now. I'm glad she's out of that situation. I am so glad I am not a teen anymore but hey, I was bullied even out of my teens. Some kids never grow up.

^ Sorry Solo, I misinterpreted the comment about your niece's hip surgery
She has to have hip surgery
. Hope she'll be back to dancing real soon and the surgery solves the problem. It's a shame about the roommate and hopefully future roomies will be better.

Meanwhile, I gargled with salt water today. YES, I was THAT desperate to get rid of the sore throat and swollen glands. It really worked. LOL I hate salt water gargles...

Tonight is the premiere of SYTYCD, but I'm going to be at a dance friend's house tonight and she doesn't watch the show?! :( I sent her a text, but she just doesn't seem interested. I LOVE that show and I'm a bit bummed, but when you're at a party with multiple folks you can't just say, "hey, I want to ignore you and borrow your TV, okay?" :D

OMG! I saw SYTYCD tonight. Some of those dancers are amazing! I wish I could be on the show just so I could show them what a 59 year old dancer can do. My fan kicks this year are amazing and I am sorry if I am bragging. I wish you could see my dance. My recital is May 31st. They had a 10 year old girl on who has the World Record from the book whose name I can't spell right and spell check can't find the word. She did 55 pirouettes in a row to break the record! It was amazing! What an amazing dancer! Do you have OnDemand? You could watch it there. Google that little girl. I don't remember her name but if you Google what she did they will tell you all about her. She dances 40 hours a week! When does she go to school & do homework and sleep? Most people work that long but they aren't 10, at least not in this country.

I heard you should gargle w/kosher salt. I don't know why Kosher salt but we bought some just for that. It does help. I hope you feel better. I hate being sick and boy do I know about sore throats! I've never had strep throat before even though kids I have babysat for had it. However, I've had more sore throats, bronchitis, and pneumonia 4 times w/4 pneumonia shots (they are only 75% effective.) and it has ruined my throat. I've was never American Idol material but I could sing. Now, my voice sounds horrible and sometimes when I hit certain notes nothing comes out. If I am ever in trouble, I can't scream because nothing comes out! Thank the Lord God doesn't care how I sing in church although sometimes I don't even like to sing out loud because it doesn't sound like it used to it's so bad. I hope your voice is okay because you have a nice voice.

Forgot to mention check out the arts on here and check out what I have done. Even if it's old and you can't comment there, comment here or on my diary. Since I didn't comment in a while I had to start a new diary. I'd love to know what you think.

^I skimmed the last 12 pages of your last diary and the current one as well as some of your other posts. I posted some advice on resume, cover, and interviews on your diary.

Meanwhile, I got my $12 Hairy Cuttery (no blowdry) cut yesterday for the Summer. I can still put it in the world's tiniest ponytail when I want to get it out of my face.

I just had a birthday. I turned 59. I am so glad I don't look my age. Happy Early Birthday!

Nice recent photos on the ballet boards. You look so nice when you are on your toes.

Thanks for the resume stuff you sent. It will be put to good use believe me. I just hate thinking I have to look for a job again! Thank you President Obama.

Today was the dress rehearsal for my dance recital. I've been dancing since 1974 and this teacher is the only one who has 2 dress rehearsals! This year we had an in-studio one. My teacher had a studio in her basement but it was never big enough to have an in-studio rehearsal. Her family is moving across the street to a house her family owns but for right now, she has just moved the studio. It's much bigger except for one thing. Like my cellar, it had metal posts in it so we have to dance around them. It is much bigger than the old studio so we didn't have to rent anything else to have this dress rehearsal. My dance went really well I thought. I forget a few steps but no one but my teacher knew. Everyone loved my costume! I can't wait for the recital! Wish you could come! I have extra tickets!

^Happy belated birthday, Solo! :)

Endoscopic exam yesterday reveals NO damage to voice box, cords, or trachea. Hope to heal and start singing again soon.

I never had a tube in my nose/down my throat before and didn't know that I would have that done until I met with the Specialist yesterday. At the four week mark of my illness, my trachea and voice are still irritated and we were concerned.

If someone were to ask me if I had to give up dancing or singing (choose between the two), I suppose I'd give up dancing. Although I love it, it gets harder and harder to keep up the level of conditioning at my age and injuries take SO long to heal. I can still move to music no matter how old I am, so I guess I'd do some kind of "dancing" no matter how little. However, I love to sing and I fear every year when I lose my voice in the Spring/Summer due to allergies that I will lose my voice and never be able to speak or even sing like ME!!

My wedding anniversary is on Saturday and we probably won't do anything too wild and crazy due to lack of extra money at the moment. We end up only having a romantic dinner at home.

Happy Anniversary! Hope you have an amazing day. Want me to come cook something for you? LOL

I can never give up dancing. Never. Of course, unlike you, I've never been injured from dance. I got injured from tripping over the vacuum cleaner in my living room and no, I was not dancing when it happened. My dance teachers are always saying I will dance till I am 100. If I live that long I probably will. As for singing, that is another story. I used to be a good singer years ago. Not American Idol material and when I sang w/my class in grade school and in the choir in church w/my class I never got a solo but I was good. Then I started getting bronchitis twice a year. 4 cases of pneumonia. Now when I sing it sounds like the bad ones on Idol, the ones who think they can sing and tell the judges that everyone says they have an amazing voice. Some notes when I hit them, nothing comes out. I wish my voice was like it used to be but it's not. I'm glad I'm not a pro like Madonna or Janet Jackson or my career would be over already! I'd like to hear your voice. Any place I can hear it?

We had some bad weather today. Pouring rain, hail, wind, and thunder and lightning. We are supposed to have the same tomorrow. We need the rain, we need a months worth but we don't need the violent weather. We have friends who live an hour and a half from all the destruction in OK and they said it was scary.

I will defiantly give it all a look once I read all the e-mail's I got today. I love e-mail but I love mail in my mailbox from the post office a whole lot better. It's to bad more people don't appreciate a good greeting card or handwritten letter anymore. I guess I am old fashioned.

Have you ever entered any singing contests? How about America's Got Talent or do you not think you are good enough for that show? Just wondering. It would be cool if you were on it, then I could say someone I knew was on the show. My sisters friends daughter was on X-Factor in a group. She was a solo act then they put her in w/a group of girls. La Coda Rain was their name. We watched it every week to see her. They didn't win but I think my sister said they got a recording contract.

^No singing contests, but I sang in a band when I was in my early 20s and I did duets in my mid-20s (folk, Bob Dylan, Beatles etc.) with my boyfriend who played acoustic guitar. I sing all the time and always have. I did some theater when I was younger. I always wanted to be performer (sing, dance, act) but my family wasn't supportive and wanted me to grow up to "be somebody with a serious job." My son and husband are by biggest fans and when my son was little (14 years ago) he wanted me to audition for one of the TV shows, but I just don't believe I'm good enough. I'd be happier as a lounge singer. I always thought I would have been a perfect torch singer in a different era singing in a night club. I love to sing the blues, some jazz, LOVE ballads basically.

PS I did some ballet work today www.dance.net . . .

Wow, I didn't know you had done all that singing in your life. That's cool. When I was in high school I wanted to sing. I wanted to be a rock singer in a group and My few friends and I formed a group w/me singing lead. We were going to buy our instruments from a dept. store or w/green stamps. I don't know if you remember green stamps or not. Anyway, we never got the instruments and we never did get our group off of the ground. I told my guidance counselor that was what I wanted to do. He said to me "You can't sing." Mind you he had never heard me sing. So that week I made a tape of myself singing to some records & brought it to school so he could hear it. Then he said "You'll never make a living at it and you'll be poor forever" but he did admit I could sing. I never did do it although I did audition to be a singer in a group in my town. I play the tambourine and the things Davy Jones did. As a dancer I had rhythm but never actually learned to play any instruments so these were something I could do. I didn't get that gig either.

You probably would have made a good torch singer. My family wants me to have a stable job too but who today has a stable job except for my mom. I obviously can't be a singer anymore. However, I wish I could make money off of my crafts. I love to do it and it makes me so happy and, God gave me this talent. If I don't use it, I will loose it. He also gave me my dance talent. Sometimes I hate being a grownup! LOL More job hunting.

^Thanks Solo. Maybe you can find someone who records the recital and get a copy? Will someone at least be there to take pictures, so you can email me a pic?

I'm on my way to workout. My goal is to lose 5-10% weight in the next 10 weeks (in time for my birthday trip). I've lost 5% already, but that elusive goal has become VERY difficult since I became post menopausal 11 years ago. My metabolism is practically non-existant....so frustrating sometimes. I know, I know!!! It's about conditioning and not the number on the scale. I have to be careful because I've had a body dysmorphic problem most of my life - thanks to ballet teachers and gymnastic coaches trying to get us to be super thin. :(

Someone told me they took movies w/their phone and they would get some to me. The problem is she didn't ask me for an e-mail addy or anything. Well, somehow it will get to me so I can put it on YouTube if she hasn't already. Nobody I know took photos. They were to far away. My recital was amazing! The Intermediate School was a sell out and the audience was so loud when I was on! They loved me! My mom said my old dance teacher was screaming the loudest. She was in the row in front of my mom. I also got a beautiful bouquet of colorful, pretty smelling flowers from her. It was so much fun!

Hope you loose that stubborn weight you are hoping to loose. I've always been skinny because of a Thyroid problem. I have both underactive and overactive but more of one then the other. Actually, my doctor told me that I should weigh 300 lbs. but I've never weighed 100. If I was 300, you have have to roll me out of bed in the morning. At 4'6" tall I don't think I'd be able to walk. I've been in Menopause for 6 years now. I lost 8 lbs. about 8 years ago or so. Don't ask how I did it because I don't know. I didn't change my eating habits, I didn't exercise more, I did nothing different but lost 8 lbs. My doctor was worried at first but I said my clothes fit better and I told him what I didn't do & then he wasn't concerned. I've gained back all but 3 lbs. My dad needs to get more exercise so maybe him & I will go walking. I could use the exercise too and he could use the fresh air. We don't have to go far but when he's not moving it's not good for him.

Meanwhile, I just completed the latest "Get the Pointe" Ballet Interview which can be found on the Ballet - General board.

Well today is a day that has never had any meaning for me (Father's Day). I only met my biological father a couple of times and my stepfather was abusive and evil. It's amazing to me that I don't hate all men because of those two....on to happier things.

After church I went to the dance studio for a while, did some editing, and hung out with my dogs. I'm going to go sing for a while and then watch a video while I wait for Mr. smiley to come home.

Ciao
