You can't climb the ladder to success if you don't have a ladder.

My baby girl moved out this week. This is going to take some getting used to, especially at night.

Hugs to you, a quiet house is difficult to get used to when it's been full of people for that long!

Hugs....

No words of wisdom to offer.... frankly, I suck at this "letting go" thing.

The pep talk I give myself, as each one goes off, is, "You hate to see them go, but who is happy with the idea of a 36 year old sitting on the couch asking, 'what's for dinner?'. ?" From the time we taught them table manners and how to use a toilet, we were preparing them to be able to go out into the world without us and succeed. This is a good thing... independence." The problem for me, of course, is that my kids were all in their 20's, not 36, they had been busily embracing their own path since they started driving at 16, and the time just went too fast for me... I miss them! Please know I understand xoxo

I think I just need to learn to go to bed earlier. For so many years I waited up for someone to get home and then made sure the garage was closed and all the doors locked, lights out, etc. No one to wait up for now, which is kind of nice, but still a little sad. Especially with the time change, it already feels like midnight.

I haven't really had the chance to miss her yet, because I'm still seeing her everyday at the studio or taking things to her apartment and she calls me constantly. And we have family events the next three days, lol. Good to have them close. :)

So. I tried to go to bed earlier, tonight. 10:30, instead of the usual midnight or later. Fell asleep just fine. Aaannnd.... I have now been wide awake since 2 am. And I have to be up at 6 for a long day. The steroids I've been on this week for bronchitis surely are partly to blame, but.... Goodness.

A close friend put distance between us this past year and I just discovered she unfriended me on Facebook. :( I'm too old for these kinds of games. So the question is, do I try to talk to her or just let her continue to drift away? Sigh.....

How much are you missing her from your life?

We all have to remember that things move on and people change, is it worth your time to chase this up or do you have enough things going on in your life already?

Is it possible it is a facebook glitch?

A while ago I noticed I couldn't tag one of my grandsons, and thought he had deleted his page (I know many people who put fb on hold when life gets messy...)A few days later, he posted, and I sent him a message..."I can't comment on your post because it seems I've been unfriended!" He sent a new request, and then when I saw him he said a week earlier, he had turned on his phone and turned it off 3 or 4 times in an hour and 5 or 10 of his fb friends had been deleted.

(of course I suspect someone else who has access to his page me, may have played with his account....!!!) but just the same....
Perhaps it was a mistake.

On one hand, you may feel like it's time to let it go, especially if this friend has been odd, but on the other, life is so, so, complicated, it is possible that this friend is just not in top form and is acting like an ass (something we all do from time to time....) If you miss the friendship you might want to send a message similar to the one I sent my grandson..."I tried to tag you in ____ on fb but it seems I've been unfriended.... sending another request now..... xoxo"

I could be an honest mistake

xoxo

She has been odd for the past year or so, not returning my calls and texts, etc. We don't see each other much since our kids finished school. I know one thing that bothered her was the fact that her kids moved away and mine lived at home several more years and then when they did move out they stayed close. There were a couple of times she was pretty miffed that I put my grown kids before her. She also had a potentially serious legal problem that I urged her to hire a lawyer for and she was offended by that advice. She took my advice as me saying she was somehow in the wrong, which wasn't the case at all. She just needed a lawyer to sort it out for her. My son had just had a car accident, so I was busy helping him sort all that out and I didn't notice that she had withdrawn at first. She's a bit of a hermit and it wasn't unusual for us to go awhile without talking.

Bleh, that all got long.... anyway, I think I've decided what to do. I'm not going to address the Facebook issue. Not yet, anyway. After all, it is just Facebook. Instead, I'm going to message her and tell her I want to take a weekend girl's trip this winter and I want her to go with me. Hopefully, that will open the door.

Well, my friend finally got back to me.... to tell me they are moving (and now have moved) about five hours away. This was very unexpected because her husband's family has lived in this area for several generations and he previously stated he would never move. I understand his mother is not happy about it, she lives on the same property they lived on and was very dependent on them. But, he'd been unemployed for over a year and he finally found a job. New beginnings, I guess. This whole empty nest thing is weird for everybody, it seems.

Vacation came and went. Had a good time, though the weather was a bit chilly. Still, it was nice to spend time with friends at the beach. I've got some pictures to upload and share.

Lol, one of my sons does that and usually just as I start teaching, I always say to them all 4.00 til 10.00 I won't be able to answer your calls and 4.15 is just when he decides he needs to talk. I also love him dearly but I can't answer if I don't have my phone on me.

I'm glad you had a relaxing holiday, the picture looks lovely!

I find it difficult to convey to some people that I am, in fact, pro military while being firmly anti-war. Supporting veterans, to me, means not creating more of them.

I'm just about to take a bb gun to a couple of birds trying to build a nest on my back porch. But, it will probably end up similar to Failure to Launch. If there was a guy around, that is. Likely, I'd just trip over the dog.
