Help! Calf and ankle pain?

Hi!

I'm a ballet dancer and I just started doing modern and jazz a few months ago. While doing ballet, pointe, and modern concurrently, I'm finding that I experience a lot of calf tendon pain, as well as pain in my feet. I know it's not soreness, and it's not because of pointe, either, since I've been doing that for a while now.

Has anyone else ever experienced this issue? Am I doing something wrong? Should I be concerned?

Any advice is appreciated!!

You might get more answers if you posted under injuries but -- it sounds to me like you may be overdoing it a bit, especially since the modern and jazz are new to you. Obviously, having taken ballet, you know how to jump and land safely working through the feet and ankles and absorbing the shock with a plie; however when doing a jump in a new modern or jazz style you may be landing just a bit "off". Perhaps take it easier in those classes a while longer until you are thoroughly used to the new ways of moving.
