Hi everyone!

I’m a bunhead looking for some expert advice/info; I am doing a project where I have to categorize dance forms, and really want your input. The set-up is that I am designing a dance directory, so have to organise all the most prevalent forms of dance, and their immediate sub-categories.

For example, my ballet (work in progress) model is as follows:

BALLET
●Balanchiene (American) ●Bournonville (Danish) ●Cecchetti (Italian) ●École Française (French) ●Royal Academy of Dance (English) ●Vaganova (Russian)

(Although admittedly this model needs tweaking, as the RAD is not the only representative/ambassador for the English Style).

Would you say your ‘map’ would look as follows:

MODERN DANCE
●Cunningham n ●Graham ● Horton

Have I omitted any famous/critical sub-categories for modern techniques? (i.e. I am not loking for names of styles or choreography, only ‘methods’ or ‘techniques’ of modern – thanks)

Many thanks for your time and patience! I look forward to your replies.

Best wishes,
Elida

RAD isn't really English Ballet. Its a created syllabus. It was created by Masters of Cecchetti, Vaganova, French and I believe Bournville.
