This dance usually lasts for 5 minutes and is part of their teacher's exam - there are quite a few versions on youtube that are really interesting to watch! www.youtube.com . . . - in this one, the man dances their last step which is called in literal translation "The Pigeon Wings" - quite impressive jumping!

Some more info about the "French hornpipe" quicly translated from the French: Rode Basso Prouvenco is the gathering of about thirty three Provençal folk groups working for the maintenance and preservation of the customs and traditions of Provence.

During study days and courses, committees composed of competent people, share their experience in order to be closer to the truth about dance, music, singing and costumes.

Working groups prepare the future leaders of folk groups: provosts, dance masters who will teach after to those who love Provencal dancing the steps technique and the traditional choreography.

The same rigor is required in groups dress presentation. Commission, working with the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions of Basse Provence, identified a considerable number of pieces of clothing, tissues examined, observed patterns, sought manuscript sources studied iconography.

After various books dealing with each piece of costume, caps, vests, petticoats , chemises, corsets , jewelry with the detail of each piece component: fabrics , laces , buttons, bags , socks, shoes etc ...
