Bunions... ouch!

I've been struggling with my left foot bunion for about 6 months now. It started becoming painful while I was taking tap this year - although I tapped last year too and it never bothered me. I changed tap shoes, but no luck on relief. Did a course of physiotherapy and he taught me taping techniques and I now use a toe spacer and a gel bunion guard. Things are better than they were, but not perfect.

I wore my old hullachan pro's to an irish class last monday and was in absolute agony! Now I am forced to wear my really old (but not worn out) tan sole ghillies that are a bit big, I don't remember the brand, but they make my dancing look flat :( Funny enough, hardshoes don't seem to bother it...

Any tips for bunions? Found any good shoes that make your feet look good but are kind to your bunions?

I soak my feet daily, and I have a splint-like thing that I wear on them at night that's supposed to help. It hurts like crazy in the morning, but it does keep my bunions from swelling up at dance.
