I just remembered the scene from Harry Potter when the Weasley twins set off fireworks as they left Hogwarts. I envision a ceili:

Beginner hornpipes:

Star Wars - Theme
Lion King - Hakuna Matata
Raiders of the Lost Ark - Theme
Superman - Theme
The Departed - I'm Shipping up to Boston

Intermediate/Advanced hornpipe:
Peter Pan - Never smile at a crocodile
Moulin Rouge - El Tango De Roxanne
Moulin Rouge - Lady Marmelade
The Jungle book - Colonel Hathi's March (very slow!)

Jig:
The Departed - Sail on Sailor (Beach Boys)
My all time favorite to perform to!! It's not from a movie, but definately sounds like it.
Vanessa Mae - The Classical Album, I'm a Doun for Lack O-Johnnie

A bit unusual, but I like
Inception - Dream is collapsing

You can do a sling or slip jig to the middle part.

Thanks so much for all the help!

So far I really like Bridge Attack for a reel and Shipping up to Boston for a hornpipe.
I also like some of the how to train your dragon tracks.
I have two classes.

One beginner mostly 6 year olds

The other is advanced beginner (in hard shoe) and about 8-9 years old.

I like the stronger sounding tracks with a lot of percussion. I'm not a huge fan of very instrumental music especially for beginner classes.

If I only had a brain
We've also used
"We go together" from Grease.
Ease on Down the Road from The Wiz
I've got no strings

And more I'm sure I've forgotten.

I might be wrong but I am nearly positive Shipping is a Light Jig/Beginner TJ. It's not a hornpipe. I messed around with it just now to make sure and unless I've got my beats way off (it's quite possible, it's my first week of school after all), it's a jig.

Blood of Cuchulainn is amazing, thirded or however many other people like it. :) It's so powerful! I would buy an album if they did a practice one from the orchestra from the movie.

Yea ill have to listen again ^ it sounds like it could go either way. I hope it's not a jig. It would be too fast. :(

^We've used Shipping Up to Boston for a Set Dance jig set. It's a jig, but it is really fast. It works for set dancing, but maybe not so much with solo dancing, unless you tempo it down with a program like Audacity or something.
