I've been dancing for 24 years, danced at Cowal in 2003, got my Associate in 2005 and retired from competition in 2008.
Because all I did since 2003 was teach, I knew my technique was getting worse, which is also why I retired 5 years later (I didn't want to stop at a low, but rather retire when I was still at an acceptable local Premier level).
Well, I've starting taking classes again and I'm really excited to be working on technique again, and to have someone point out my mistakes. It's making me realise why I love Highland so much!
The funny thing is that my teacher is a young woman who started with me when she was 5. She's become a really good dancer and recently trained with a very good school in Scotland, so she's become far better than I ever was.
