Oireachtas Qualifications

What are the qualifications other schools use for dancers to participate in solos at their oireachtas? I think our school is way too strict and only allows Open Champs. Just wondering how other schools handle this. Thanks!

At my school all champs (prelim and open) can go. Some Prizewinners that are close to champs are invited as well, if they can prove they know the material.

If you are on a team and not invited to do solos, then you can enter the trad set competition.

My school allows champions (prelim and open) to compete in solos. When the O is in our home town, then if you are one dance away form champions (we have to win a big 4 dances to make champion), then you can do solos as well. 8 hand teams and Dance Drama are open to anyone beginner 1 and higher who will commit to the practices, and trad set is open to anyone on teams who isn't dancing solos.
