Does SAB accept tall female dancers? I'm a little under 5'11 and I was just wondering if it's worth auditioning for.

Sad truth.... in theory, it's not about the numbers.

In reality... and I'm 5'6".... no matter how good you are when you are "eligible", the boys have to be able to lift you with ease and you have to be petite enough to make them look "manly". When you are my height and go en pointe and put your arms up in 5th you are often too tall. Unless you are doing something really spectacular, you need to get used to the back of the stage if you are tall.

That said.... just because you won't be a star, doesn't mean you can't benefit from a very good education. Good luck

The girls I know who got into SAB are on the shorter side. Ballet West LOVES tall dancers!

Hi!! I attended SAB summer course 2014, and yes there were tall dancers. I was thirteen and around five nine. Depending on your age height varies but there were older girls that were taller than me.

I know lots of tall dancers who've attended SAB's summer intensive. Go for it!
