ActingReading As A Little Girl?

I received an unexpected callback for a production of Annie Get Your Gun in which I will be reading a monologue of lyrics, which makes for awkward reading, lots of ryhming, lots of repetition. I have decided to read it for Nellie or Jessie Oakley (I'm fifteen, but it's a high school production, and I'm short for my age, and sort of young looking.)
I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to read the monologue? I think about the way I want it to sound in my head, but then it just doesn't sound the same aloud...please help! Much appreciated!

Try to be more affected and lilting in your voice. Pigtails and knee socks with a shorter skirt are a great way to look younger. Record yourself on your phone or tablet and play with it til you get the sound you want. And keep that word in mend - play.
Good luck, kk~
