Isolating Muscles

Hello DDNers!

So far, I've been trying to condition every day for about two months, and I haven't really noticed an improvement in any of my strength for ballet at all. Obviously I am not expecting to turn into Natalia Ospiova overnight, but there really seems to be nothing helping, down to the exact same soreness of my quads the day after a long adagio because I'm gripping them to make up for the lack of strength in my illopsoas and rest of my core.

I am trying to be patient, I just think that maybe if this doesn't appear to be working for me I should try something else instead of wasting my time. I think that one big reason why there is no improvement is because I'm -so- bad at locating and isolating my muscles, especially the hip flexor/core muscles for side and front extensions and lower back muscles for arabesques.

Does anyone have any tips, tricks, or resources on feeling your muscles and not gripping your quads/letting your back take over in conditioning exercises and in extensions?

Thanks so much to everyone who replies!
