Hello Tap Dancers! :)

Whether you're just getting started or you've tap danced on Broadway, a solid warmup routine can help keep the dust off your technique and sloppiness out of your tap dancing. Click on BEGINNING, INTERMEDIATE, or ADVANCED below to see a video featuring a few of my favorite warmups for your approximate level.

BEGINNING: youtu.be . . .

1a. Shuffles - 8 front, 8 side, 8 back, 7 side, flap (repeat on other side)
1b. Shuffles - 4 front, 4 side, 4 back, 3 side, flap (repeat on other side)

2a. Shuffle-Step-Heel (x4 moving forward), (x4 moving backward)
2b. Shuffle-Step-Heel (x2 moving forward), (x2 moving backward)

3. Step Heel Step Heel Step-Heel Step-Heel Step Heel
(with legs moving apart, then back together)
Counted as: "1 & 2 & 3 e & a 4 &"

INTERMEDIATE: youtu.be . . .

1. Shuffle-Heels, Shuffle-Toes, and Shuffle-Hops
--8 front, 8 side, 8 back, 7 side, flap-heel--

2a. Shuffle-Shuffle Step Heel (x4 moving forward), (x4 moving backward)

2. Double-Shuffles w/ Heels,Toes or Hops -- 4 front, 4 side, 4 back, 3 side, shuffle-flap-heel
3a. Flap-Heels, same-foot heel or other-foot heel -- 4 front, 4 side, 4 back, 3 side, switch
3b. Flap-Heel-Heels, both heel-orders -- 4 front, 4 side, 4 back, 3 side, switch
