I need to make some kites for a ballet dance to lets go fly a kite but im kind of at a loss of how to make them and what size they should be so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The kids are between 5-8 if that helps with the sizing of the kites

I did the exact same thing!

I got dowel rods and made a cross with them and hot glued the middle to make the structure of the kite. Then I got those wide rolls of colored paper, cut out the appropriate sized triangle shape to lay on top of the dowel rod and hot glued all four ends. Then we attached a ribbon with some bows attached for a steamer.

I can't remember the exact dimensions we used but it was from their shoulders down to mid-thigh so it wouldn't be too big.

They were fragile but the kids danced with them great!
