I got a chance to be a super for a major company production, choreographed by Alexi Ratmansky of the ABT. Get to wear fake armour, hold a spear and everything! Always did aspire to being a Renaissance Man!

Congratulations, that'll be amazing to see the dancing that close up. Let us know who you get to appear on stage with when you know won't you.

H'bird, since I have to help lift and carry off Tybalt at the end of Act 2, I go into the theatre early to do a small warm up at the barre, stretches, etc. On opening night I did this and there was just one other artist there stretching (I guess he wanted quiet since he could have been in the other studio closer to the stage where the rest of the company was all hanging out). So I got to warm up with the country's top danseur, the subject of the recent CBC program. :)

Congrats!! That's soo neat!!

It's great to see when us ordinary adult recreational hobbyist's have a chance to get out on stage...even if is just for a short background/supernumerary stint!!

Sorry, here's the reference to the Renaissance...

Behind the scenes...

What's very cool is for Act 1 there's a party scene where, as servants, we supers just stand off to the sides as so much 'movable scenary' while the company does this elaborate set of dances (sword, court jesters, ladies-in-waiting, pas de deux, etc) while the orchestra booms away and fabulous costumes swirl around under very bright lighting. Have to stand very still, so feet and legs start to feel like you wanna move. Best very close-up view that money can't buy and through all 9 performances.
