I have never auditioned for Houston's Summer Program and don't really know what to expect. I am really interested in the program but I don't want to be caught of guard since I don't know what the audition is like. Can anyone who's auditioned share your experience? Did you like the class? How much was en pointe (I will be in the 15+ age group) and were the combinations challenging? Thanks!

Hi!

I recently auditioned for Houston Ballet in the 15+ audition. The class was an hour and a half long and I enjoyed it very much! The teacher gave combinations very quickly, so be ready to memorize them! He did say that it was perfectly fine to make a mistake, but to commit to it instead of worrying about doing something incorrectly. We put our pointe shoes on right after an adagio in center. I don't remember any combinations that didn't seem like part of a "normal" class. There were no fouetté turns at my audition. It was a lot of fun and received my results 5 business days after!

Have fun!(:
