We are hosting our first ever Nutcracker performance. I would love to hear from anyone about things you have learned along the way. Our studio is not a ballet school so we are planning a variety Nutcracker. But as the first time I am doing something other than a recital.... please give me advice.
Thank you!

Planning is very important. You will need help.
Start work on it as soon as possible.

I would advertise it as a "children's theater" version and keep ticket prices low, to encourage the youngest audience members to attend. I would scale it down to one hour, eliminating parts you can't manage well just yet, or don't have enough advanced dancers. The Grand Pas at the end is over 5 minutes, and most won't miss it, but you can use just the 1+ minute Sugar Plum solo.
