Salute by Little Mix
9 to 5-Dolly Parton
Minnie's Bowtique
Fly To Your Heart by Selena Gomez--the girls were dressed as pilots
Me Party from the Muppets
Girl on Fire-Alicia Keys

Independent Women--Destiny's Child
I'm Every Woman was our finale

So, I thought that the panicked, "Please plan my recital for me!" tone of this post seemed kind of familiar. When did you change the theme of your recital?

Our studio does two recitals every year. Our studio owner has asked us to plan both at once so that we are ready. This is the first time that she has asked us to do this and I am very, very panicked. The other teachers at my studio have asked me with some help with their songs, so that is why I need so many. I am working on a post that outlines what I have and what I need. Thank You all for your patience and support!

You might find "I Enjoy Being a Girl" in an anthology of Rodgers and Hammerstein shows. It was originally a song in the late 1950's Rodgers and Hammerstein musical "Flower Drum Song."

Google "Flower Drum Song" sheet music". There are several entries, some of them available by download.

When I am looking for recital music, I can usually come up with some decent lists just by googling the theme: "songs about girls," "songs about food" or whatever your theme may be. I also get ideas from the iTunes store and YouTube. This usually takes some time, but I feel it's part of my job to do my due diligence to find a song best-suited for each particular class. I feel better knowing I've exhausted my options and made the best choice. Tonight, for instance, I must have listened to ten versions of I Want A Hippopotamus for Christmas before choosing the version I thought was best. Along the way, if I come across songs I like, but maybe won't work at this time, I keep a running list which can help me out in future years. I hope some of this helps you as you look for songs for your recitals. You know your classes and what suits them better than anyone else.
