How long did it take to learn all four hard shoe dances for competitions during the first year of starting hard shoe?
I know this varies, just wondering what to expect... TIA!

I think it would depend on how fast you learn and how fast you practice. Also class size....a smaller class would probably learn things quicker.
I've been doing CRN for slightly over a year now and I've only learnt two full hard shoe dances (hornpipe and jig) and parts of two traditionals (blackbird, st. Pat's day). I would consider myself a very fast learner and practice quite a bit. It takes time to perfect movements and move the dance from short term memory to long which I thing you really need for compeition. You don't want to be on stage trying to remember what movement came next! You just want to focus on the overall picture and try to convey that you enjoy what you're doing.
