HI we have been to a few feises now & we are suprised when little ones who have made obvious mistakes get places.
Do the judges go for a certain type of look? What is the most important thing to get right in beginner?

1. Does the dancer know the steps?
2. does the dancer do the steps in time to the music?
3. does the dancer have good carriage and keep their headline correct?
4. Does the dancer show good technique (closed feet, pointed toes, legs bent/straightened during the steps)

Sometimes judges may miss when a dancer makes a mistake onstage, and othertimes they may still deduct points but a dancer may still come out on top, and other times its just a mystery!

I would say the biggest thing they are looking for in beginners is timing and knowing the steps (i.e. they dance all the way thru without stopping!)
