One of my students wants to enter into a dance competition, however I was never a competition dancer growing up and don't know a whole lot about them, its not a big name competition like starbound or anything but does anyone have any tips when it comes to choreographing her piece? Any help would be appreciated!!

Something that I hear in a lot of the judges' feedback is emphasis on what story the dancer is telling. I would make sure your choreography has a defined concept or story and that your dancer is able to emote/express what that is.
In articles I read that are written by competition judges, they always suggest not to put in skills that the dancer is not ready for. They would rather see simpler, well-executed steps than fancy tricks that aren't done well.
Good luck to you!
