Highland jacket button inquiry

I was wondering if anyone can answer this question for me. I have stumbled across some genuine vintage silver buttons. They look like buttons used on highland jackets. When polished I from a distance I don't think you would be able to tell the difference between these buttons and the ones used by seamstresses today. I have 10 of them. Does anyone know if it would be acceptable to use them on my jacket I am currently having made. Thank you
Cheers

The rules for sobhd jackets say they must be diamond thistle buttons in silver or gold. If they are the same shape i doubt it would be a problem especially if they have thistles in the design. What judge would lean in close and say 'your buttons aren't new...'?

I personally wouldn't if you were getting a Premier level jacket, but otherwise there is truly no reason not to use them. And seeing that all that's described is 'diamond thistle buttons', there is a good amount of leeway, that we as dancers just interpret as '1 kind of button only'.
