I didn't have time to go see it when released, but I just bought it as a DVD, and will view it at my leisure. From reading reviews, I thought the initial concept was good, but the story gets too confusing in the end, by having the "good guys" actually be the evil ones. I think it was a big mistake by not having more ballet in it, as that is what the brand is known for. So having one token dancer (but glad it was cast with a well known pro) was not enough for me to urge my students to go see it. Also, by going too far from the known story, and mixing characters' motivation, I wouldn't want to confuse little children by having them watch it.

It seems to have bombed, when I was hoping it would add to Nutcracker Ballet's draw, and that is a shame for all of us looking to boost Ballet.
