Classes include ballet, pointe, tap, jazz/theater dance, modern, Irish Step, hip-hop offered for preschoolers adults. For some, the program will inspire a commitment to a professional career in, and for others it will inspire a love of dance. We have trained more professional dancers, teachers, and choreographers than any other school on Long Island. Ms Solomon has a BS in Therapeutic Recreation and has studied ballet for over 30 years. Her earliest training was under Debra Punzi and she currently attends weekly ballet class with Ms Punzi. She has performed with Ballet Long Island in The Nutcracker, Cinderella, Snow White, Firebird, Sleeping Beauty, Pocahontas, Multicultural Celebration and many more ballets. She is an incredible staff member at The Ballet Center and aspires to pass on her love of ballet to her students.
Contemporary Dance is an evolution from Classical Ballet. It breaks the rules of Classical Ballet and creates new ones of its own. It therefore has fewer restrictions, and can be seen as a fusion of many dances.Contemporary dance is a form of dance that relies on movement that is more natural and organic for the body. In this class students will explore the techniques of Martha Graham, Lester Horton and Jose Limon. Dancers will experiment with movement principals such as fall and recovery, contraction and release and lateral movement. The students will begin to push the limits of their technique by discovering new ways of using music and sound to intensify the emotion in their movement
