This post is here for all members to understand our Company's motto and how it works. We hope that everything is fair to every member and we appreciate your involvement with DNBT.
Company Directors
There are 4 company directors whom you can PM if you have any questions!

How the Company Works
DNBT works on a rotation basis. Places needed are all dancers, backstage, design, principal, soloists and corps. Now, every month or two weeks, depending on how everything goes, we will put on a ballet. This will involve, members pics, costumes, stage, etc.
For those who sign up, you will all, in due time, get a go of everything. So we randomly choose who is who (i.e, corps, solists, principals) record who has been who and from there rotate the order. So one performance you may be in the corps, the next a soloist, the next, that stage manager, etc, so everyone has a go at onstage major and minor roles and offstage staffing. Each time I will post the list of who is who and then I can fairly rotate it so everyone gets a go at everything, if we come to the end of this, we will start again!
Jobs available on a Rotation Basis
Ballet Directors
-There are 2-4 people filling this job. It involves working together and it is hard but fun work!
-Arrange re-hearsals and re-hearsal ettiquette
-Say how people may dress for re-hearsal
-Supervise the re-hearsal schedual
-Monitor the progress of the ballet, set the time limits and instruct and encourage when you feel you need to
-Oversee discussions between yourselves to sort out problems and situations
-Check up on the production of costumes and scenery so that everything is ready in time
-Arrange galas and parties for the after show.... etc
Teachers/Choreographers
-As many as needed!
-You teach the ballet or choreograph if nescessary
-You alternate with all teachers, teaching the corps, the principals, the solos, that pas de deux.... etc So each teacher gets a chance to work with ever dancer.
-You do everything from warm ups to injury therapy classes.
-You can even book in with the directors a few extra non ballet classes if comapny members request them.
-You get to put the principals chosen to roles.
Say you have principal dancers a, b, and c. And parts, 1, 2 and 3 in a ballet. Its your job to decide who is who. You can discuss this fairly with the dancers so everyone is happy with thier character OR just choose randomly to avoid disputes - your choice!
-You verify your class scheduals with the directors and teach appropriate classes for each ballet.
Costume Organizers
-As many as needed once again!
-You surf the web/draw/paint or sketch costumes you think are suitable for the ballet that is being staged.
-If you love to draw, the design them yourself, if however, you are not an artiste (like myself!!) lol, then surf the web to find costumes you like and submit them for the ballet.
-You get the costumes for the principals, the soloists AND the corps...its a lot of work yes, but fun too. Of course you only submit one sample costume for each role but you can creat threads for fitting costumes etc.
-You must pay attention to every detail:
Head pieces
Colour of pointe shoes
Dress/skirt/leo/tutus
-If you wish, you can also sumbit make up ideas that correlate with the costumes!
Stage Managers
-As many as needed!
-Your job is waaay fun! You get to:
-Design the stage layout completley, front views, side views, etc
-The curtain colour, whether is a in out curtain, an up down curtain, is it net, velvet, two tone? Your choice!
-You are also in charge of finding props, say we are doing the nutcracker, your job is to find clara the best nutcracker there is out there, draw it, get it from a website...whatever you want!
-Lighting, do you want faded spotlight, a pale pink lighting colour?
-Backdrops are also your task, which ballet? which scene? You back drop!
Publicist
-Only 1 person
-In charge of designing poster, tickets etc.
-Also in charge of advertising for the performance through
out VIS.
Dancer
-As many as each production takes!
-Job is pretty straigtforward.
Last Words
You are aware I am sure that your job is to dance! lol!
You partake in re-hearsals, performances, dressing rooms etc! If you want, post a pic of you in your dressing room, or describe what you and your dressing room look like! Give your imput to everything that goes on in the ballet, on stage and off stage. Remember: This is a group thing, no one is fully in charge, not me not anyone, if we want to make a change or to make it better than say! The more input, the better it gets!
You level of dancing DOES NOT MATTER. Whether its 20 years of 2 months, who cares? We all love to dance, so lets all dance! Even if you aren't en pointe, no worries, you are stil a valued member of dance net, and therefore will be included no matter what! Age also doesn't matter.... 45 or 11, we want you!! 7 Replies to ~*Information on Dance.Net Ballet Theatre*~ |
