If I were to follow these directions, what would be a reasonable amount of time to reach full front and side splits? How do dancers obtain the ability to perform static stretches?

I hope my niece takes this information in as she has read through it throughly. She is streaching every night and progressing very quickly this post has also made me a bit more aware and clued up on the subject. Many Thanks

Thanks a bunch! I used these four essentials to design my own daily stretching routine and used your stretching log idea by designing an entire training log as a diary here on ddn! Karma to you for inspiring me to reevaluate and increase my training methods!

These stretches have really helped!
I doing the stretches twice a day and am getting closer to being able to do the split.
Thanks for sharing these, and one more strech is simple sitting on the ground with your legs about 90 degreesapart and stretching to touch your toes and repeating with the other leg.

I have been using some of the advice on stretching and I have improved alot with my streching I now have a routine to stick to thanks x

I also didnt no how much better it was to do a cool down I actually hadnt realy ever heard of lol so now I do a cool down after my stretching lol great post :D xo

This is good, but the body temperature is not true. One degree raise in body temperature is very bad, two degrees is worse. Your body will stay the same temperature, if it goes up by even .5 degrees, you have a fever.
