I made a similar post to this in the jazz forum. A lot of the lyrical songs suggested in the other thread are great, but they have mature themes and aren't really appropriate for kids' lyrical dances. Also there are often questions on this board asking for song suggestions for younger people for lyrical. So, suggest your songs that are great for kid's lyricals in this thread!

My suggestions:

Tale as Old as Time (from Disney's Beauty and the Beast)
Part of your World (from Disney's The Little Mermaid)
Reflection (from Disney's Mulan)
Somewhere Over the Rainbow
Edelweiss (from The Sound of Music)
You'll Be In My Heart (from Disney's Tarzan)
It is You (from Shrek)
Castle on a Cloud (from Le Miserables)
When You Believe (from The Prince of Egypt)
Love Theme from Romeo and Juliet Soundtrack
Kissing You (Instrumental) from Romeo and Juliet Soundtrack

So add your suggestions to help the younger dancers find appropriate songs for their lyrical dances!

One Voice by Billy Gilman is a good song for kids on the older side who can understand and show the meaning of the song.

I don't have any suggestions, these songs are all good ones. Thanks for this post, I agree. A lot of the songs suggested are for mature/older dancers, not younger girls/boys. I don't think Concrete Angel is a good lyrical song for a younger child but that's just my opinion. It's better for someone 12 or 13 years or older. I Turn to You is by Christina Aguilera. I heard a song at competitions that almost made me cry it's called Dear Mr. Jesus, I'm not sure who it's by, but little girls did this maybe ages 6-9. It was so cute and pretty. I hope I helped somewhat.

Love,
Brooke

A great lyrical for little children around the ages of 8 and younger would be to "when somebody loves me" it is from toy story 2. Sarah Mcglachlan sings it. It is really emotional for a childrens song and would be very sweet!
