Hey!

My junior squad just learned how to do a basket toss. Its not very high yet, but they'r working on it. In this picture, the flyer is almost down, but it is about a meter higher. Any tips on getting it better??

CheerOn!

FOR THE BASES:

the prep: make sure to use your legs when you bend down, and don't lean in, you lose momentum! use those thighs to bend and keep your back straight. DO NOT let your hands go lower than your belly button! if it goes lower than your belly button you're actually losing height b/c it takes too much effort to push from that low.

the release: you should extend your body all the way through your toes! when you release you should be on your tip-toes. And flick your wrists! it sounds dumb but it gives a little extra height.

FOR THE FLYERS:

support your weight in your arms and push off when the release begins, it helps the bases give you height. And once you're in the air, ride the pop! straighten out your body with your arms above your head and stay straight until you feel you're at the highest point you will get! then do your toe touch. This will take afew times to get used to, but once you're used to baskets, you will become more comfortable with when to execute the toe touch, waiting & riding the pop will give you great height.

Hope I've Helped!
ONE MORE THING! en>fr fr>en

OO one more thing! LOL TIMERS! do timers! timers are practice baskets with no trick in them. basically the basket without a toe touch or anything.

This will teach the flyer how to ride and time her baskets and perfect riding the pop AND work on cleaning up that cradle. I suggest doing these as WARM UPS before toe touch baskets or bottle rockets or w/e your baskets have. You will REALLY see a difference if every practice you do like 5 TIMERS as warm ups before executing the basket tosses. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!
