Some people have brought up the issue of keeping all topics at dance.net about dance, even in the advice forums like <i>Ask a Girl</i> and Girls Only. I disagree.



Firstly, dance.net is mostly about dance. The only non-dance questions seem to come up solely in the advice forums. And as much as we would like, we dancers cannot dance every waking moment. There are other non-dance activities that fills our lives.



It would be too limiting to enforce a dance-only policy on the advice forums. Who better than dancers, parents of dancers, and instructors to seek advice on life's other issues? We all share a common passion, and that gives us insights that non-dancers don't have. Dance.net should be a place you can turn to for answers and support from fellow dancers with the confidence that one of us has probably been there before and can lend a hand or a warm smile.

I absolutely agree with you too. There are some things that people simply don't feel they can ask people they physically know, and come here as a last resort (no offense to your site at all Linh! ) I have said it once, and will say it again, just because we are dancers doesn't mean we don't experience the same things as ever other human does, we are still people who go through people things! I don't see, given that they are posted on the appropriate forum, that there should be any problem with people posting asking for help.

I totally agree with u linh thnx for bringing that up..I have a question though could u please say sumething bout those people that alwayz post sumething like I got a star? I'm not trying to be rude but that gets kinda nnoying after a while

Yeah the whole concept of ONLY dance seems a little narrow minded.... the only thing that REALLY bugs me is when people get way to into the sex, drugs, and those kind of posts (not like, do you do them, but like, posting perverted or harassing messages)...

i agree. i love this site becuase i can talk about dance to my heart's content, but still talk about other things as welll.

I agree! We should be allowed to talk about things other than dance.

Of course, dance.net is my favorite (and I'm probably not the only one) dance webpage, and it is great to see that there are so many topics to choose and read about dance! There are only a couple topics that are not on dance and they should definitely stay here. Sometimes people want to get advice on other topics other than dance, and It's great that they can do that here. Dance.net should totally stay the way it is right now.

i totally agree. if someone needs some advice, im sure that they love it when reliable people give it to them? would you rather that people get bad, unreliable advice from elsewhere? and if someone needs advice, this is a good place to get it, because alot of the other people here are probably going through the same thing, so why send them somewhere else? im sure most people here would agree with me.

I think we should focus on dance and questions but some ppl just post so they can get more stars that is what i find annoying.Ppl should post info that is helpful and not annoucing how many stars that get.

i agree with you absolutely and i have tried so many times to pout my point across on some of those posts but they dont seem to listen i hope now that ppl will heed the advice given and drop ti!!

I just feel like this a dance community and even though dance is the central focus, other issues come and go from our lives and we should be able to talk about them. I think for the specific boards it would be great to stay on topic, like..."Ballet", talk about ballet only. But the variety here has something for everyone and people don't live in a little box that's strictly ballet or jazz dance or whatever. Life has a bit of everything and I think people would be frustrated if they couldn't talk about different subjects. Maybe when I get older I'll be more focused but right now I feel like with the world as messed up as it is, we need a place where we can talk and swap ideas about everything that revolves our dance lives. You have to have a little fun in life, you know? Andy

i fully agree. its more fun to be able to say anything you want, instead of censoring things that arent dance related.

I like the fact that dance.net had forums for dance and other forums because not only can we get advice on dancing but we can talk to other dancers about other things going on in our lives!
