After some collaboration and work, the first VIS Highland competition is here! It's being run by GonnaBeAStar and me, and we both hope it's fun and goes well.
To enter-
Please send and email to both GBAS and me, at highlandrocks@fsmail.net and punkqueenie@danceart.net. Send one email addressed to both of us including:
Your name (if you use your real first name, put your dance.net username too)
Your email address (just in case)
Your entry.
Instructions-
This competition is a wordsearch. It is done so that when you're all the way done, the letters you have not highlighted will spell out a phrase, and you can send only that phrase as your entry. There will also be a diceroll, and the scores will both be worth 50%. Everyone is a Beginner, so no need to worry about levels.
Some advice about actually doing the wordsearch: I would either print it out and highlight it by hand, or use MSPaint to just fill in the squares of the letters used. Once you're done, the letters left make a sentence, and it might be familiar. I didn't start designing it with this in mind, but I figured out it would work about halfway through, and it makes it a lot easier on those of us judging them.
The Clues-
I also decided to give clues crossword style- so instead of just a word list, you have to figure out what words are in there. They're not hard, but if anyone can't figure them out, ask here or email me and I'll give you the answer.
Here are the actual clues:
-the Argyle ____ (a dance)
-rhymes with "kilt" (a dance)
-Reel of ____ (a dance)
-Pas de Basques and ____ (another dance!)
-A dance with a "boy" and a "girl"
-In the Highland costume, everyone wears a ____
-Tartan Hose or ____ socks
-the Irish ____ (dance)
-____ Measure (dane)
-shoes are called ____
-Adjudicator or ____
-Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing aka the ____
-Hair in a ____
Okay, so that's it. If you have ay questions, just post them here and I'll try to answer and clarify for you. It sounds more complex than it is, I think.

Good luck!
