Hey, all,

Please remember that Dance.net's policy is to NOT allow any posts that list height/weight. It does not lead to constructive conversation, and it's what creates the pages and pages of "am I fat?" posts.

Couldn't there jsut be a general post where you put it? Or an "update" post where you place your height and weight at the beginning of each month and then the next month you say your weight loss?

^No because people on DDN have eating disorders, and posting weight/height ratios could trigger it.

For example:

Let's say I weighed 100 pounds and I was 5"6. (This is just an example, I am definitely not that weight or height.) Now, if I were to post saying "I want to loose 10 pounds" EVERYONE would say that is unhealthy, but some might say "me too" and then just starve themselves.

question- say you're on a diet and excercise plan and you just lost 30 or 40 pounds... okay to share success stories? (just wondering)

So long as you don't post your height AND weight, it's fine. Saying "I went from 200 pounds to 170" is fine, but not including that you're also 6 feet 3 inches tall. (for example :))

It leads to people to getting all, "OH NO, she was X height and X pounds and she though she should lose weight! I'm X height and 10 pounds heavier than her old weight!" ... which creates unhealthy thinking, and triggers EDs.

Hmmm... Would it be okay to say I am X height, what is a healthy weight for me to be?

You could ask it, but considering that none of us have medical degrees, we're not AT ALL qualified to answer it.

Yes, this is a very good point. People online always seem to ask if they are overweight. All they provide is their height and weight, and they expect a proper answer from others. We can't tell from just your height and weight! You may be technically 10 pounds overweight according to a medical phamplet but in reality you just have more muscle mass and are at a fine weight.

I think the bottom line with the 'Am I fat?' questions, is that NO ONE will tell you you're fat. Sure, they might enrage you to exercise if you ask forties, but thats different.

If you're worried that you're over or underweight, talk to your doctor. Like Theresa said, we don't have medical degrees, so we can't answer that.....
