We start our students at 3 and they take PreSchool Level I, which is mostly creative movement with a little bit of ballet and tap included. The following year they move to PreSchool Level II which builds on the skills they learned the previous year. These students would be mostly 4 and 5. Both these classes are 45 minutes. After Level II they take Primary Dance Level I (ages 5 and 6)which is an hour class (1/2 hr ballet and 1/2 hr tap. The next year they take Primary Dance Level II which is an hour and 15 minutes - 1/2 hr ballet and 1/2 hr tap followed by 15 minutes of pre-jazz (ages 6 and 7) Then the next year, usually beginning at age 8, they would begin 45 minute classes in whichever dance discipline they decide on. Our students don't begin Modern until they are twelve. |
