Hi! I saw a while ago a wonderful dance theatre piece entitled 'Ballads' by Cois Ceim dance theatre. They had devloped this piece over a period of time. Researching into the Irish Famine and the topic of emmigration at the timeof the mid-late 19th century. It was wonderfully portrayed.

They opened using a spotlight focused on a women lying down with a bass cello on top of her. She was then pushed up ward by a man lying underneath the board she was lying on top off. Other dancers went through various movements and the atmosphere was great. He used an empty violin case as representation of a coffin and had books stacked together in bundles tied with string, the dancers also stood on these. He used the sound of howling wind and used a sheet of metal to represent a door and the dancers literally hung out of this by their arms.

It was quiet amazing.
