Hey!!
I am recovering from a sprained ankle and when I start tapping on it again what are some good combinations/stretches that I can do to get my feet and ankles warmed up?

To start with, I would suggest doing heaps of nerve beats (to keep motivaion & stop it from becoming boring you can make up different rhythms) to really work the ankles.

Also do some rolling to make sure your ankle doesnt get too tight.

They are probably the best thing to do, but Ill give you an idea of the warm up my teacher usually gives us & maybe you could work through it as your ankle improves:

*Nerves beats

*Shuffles

*Riffs (3,4,5 beat)

*Pickups

*Grab offs

*Wings -- but PLEASE dont attempt wings until your ankle is strong enough :)

I hope this helps -- lulu doll xx

We start class with rolling shuffles backwards across the floor, some pullbacks, and some little riff walk combinations; my teacher says that the point of this particular warm up is to loosen the ankles. She really emphasizes riffs. :)

do heaps and heaps of wing preparation excercises.. which will really build up flexibility in ur ankles, and calf raises/releves to build strength

I suggest pointing and flexing your feet. Not only to warm up your feet, but also help your ankles. And like the above poster said, evelves/releves. Shuffles and just rolling your ankles around will also help.

I like doing.....

single and triple toe taps

dig heels in formation

2 shuffles and 2 toes

Don't push it too hard though, make sure you let it heal well enough before you jump back in.

tap w/u soon!
