Hazy Shade of Winter - Bangles

It has lots of fun tempo changes. I am using it for the teacher number this year. I'm pretty sure it's an 80's song... the teacher who suggested it is all about 80's music, so I just assumed.

Can anyone think of good songs for twirling that would fit a "seasons" theme? They should have something to do with a season, or at least mention it. It seems that every song I come up with, another teacher is already using. Here's what I've got so far:
Rockin' Robin
Hazy Shade of Winter
Summertime Guys

Already taken:
Cruel Summer
Walking on Sunshine

Please post your suggestions! Thanks!

There have been so many good songs posted, I don't have much left.

But, I always find these songs to easily slip in a quick routine and they have a good beat to them. ;)

Phantom of the Opera - our twirling team had a very mysterious and fun masked routine with this one!

My Humps by The Black Eyed Peas

Let's Get It Started by the Black Eyed Peas

Helena by My Chemical Romance

Holiday by Green Day

Any hott Spanish salsa-ish songs lol!

XOXO!

Right now I'm twirling to "You Can't Take Me" from the Spirt Soundtrack. It's got a really good beat. Another nice one from that cd is "Get Off Of My Back."

My sister and I are using "It Takes Two" for our duet. And once more, my other partner and I are using "Blue." And a nice one my sis and I are tinkering with is "After All" by Cher. It's really slow, but it'll make a nice duet routine with some lyrical moves in it.

These are the routines we did -

Sailor Moon theme song
Kung Fu Fighting
Hard Knock Life
Steam Heat
Ain't No Mountain High Enough
Let's Get Loud
Space Cowboy
We're Dancing

As you can see, my coach liked using movie songs for routines, which was nice because it made it fun. There were tons more, but I can't think of them now.

This isn't exactly along the same lines as the rest of the music posted here, but this Sunday I will be twirling down the wide aisle of a big church as part of the entrance processional for my friend's cello recital. We are using the opening march, track 1, from the soundtrack of "Tous les matins du monde". This is French Baroque music from the 18th century, it's really pompous and would work well in a military strut. About 2 minutes long.

Ok, so you all inspired me to spend a bit of time ( 2 days to be exact) and ransack my music collection. Believe me, there is a lot of it, in order to find songs that would be good for twirling to. I would love to post all of them on here, however, the word document is 4 pages long with songs, titles, and the speed of the song, plus any additional comments.

If you would like a copy of this list, please email me,and I will send you a copy of it.
codename_charliebrown@yahoo.com

Also, if you need any help thinking up of any songs or a combination of songs for any type of routine, please let me know. I can help you with this as well. I am at that time in my life where I am starting to get ideas together to start my own corp or if someone brings me onto theirs as a coach, i'm starting to put routine ideas together, for both individual and team events.

That also reminds me, if you need someone to help coach you, please don't hesitate to ask. I live in Southern Kentucky about 60 miles from Nashville. I am also willing to travel as well. Just keep me in your thoughts. Thanks

Hello..... we are looking for a song to twirl to in this year's parades. The group consists of K-High School. Songs I've done in the past are: It's a small World; Louie Louie; Grand Ol' Flag; HOT HOT HOT; Dancin' in the Streets. Every year I stress over what song to do, so any help is greatly appreciated! THANKS!

ok, I went through my music before i read what you have there and made up a list of songs and artists. There are a few on here like cheerleading mixes that if you are interested in any of those to let me know. But if you want to do songs that are marching band type songs, some of these may not work then. Probably the best one would be the one i have on here called:
Drumline- Marching Band Medley

Here is the rest of the list I came up with.... Hope this helps you out. The ones marked with a * are my personal favorite picks

*zz top- Sharp Dressed Man
Wild Cherry- Play that funky music
Songs from west side story
Vengaboys- We like to party
U2- Vertigo or Beautiful Day
Songs from Shrek Soundtrack
Phantom of Opera (techno)
Kenny Loggins- Danger Zone

*The knack- my sherona
*Las ketchup- The ketchup song (this is my toddlers fav song)

Donald Byrd- What i like about you
Madonna- Hey Mr. DJ
Glenn miller- In the mood (big band)
Sting- Desert Rose (calderone remix)
Steven Stills-Love the one your with
*Steppenwolf- magic carpet ride
*X-men theme song (from x men movie)
*Twister Soundtrack- Main Theme (this one may work really well, it's all instramental)
Star wars (again instrumental)
Alien ant farm- smooth criminal
Shakira- Objection (tango mix)
Save the last dance soundtrack
Rolling Stones- Jumpin Jack Flash
* Ricky Martin- the cup of life
* Prince- Bat Dance
outkast- hey ya

madagascar soundtrack
Da Rude- Sandstorm( instrumental Techno)
yoko kanno - Tank! Cowboy bebop theme- mostly instrumental
* Drumline- marching band medley

"Jungle Boogie" by Kool & the Gang might work well as part of a jungle theme. For younger kids try "Tarzan Boy" by Baltimora. I used this with a group of 7 & 8 year olds once and dressed them in a Pebbles Flintstone-type outfit, complete with a fake bone in their hair - so cute!
