PDD is always fun with a constructive partner. It's much easier for the beginner to start with an experienced partner and it's always more difficult for the boy than for the girl. It's hard work and must look easy. He has to be strong and elegant at the same time.

Some days ago I saw a nice ballet moovie in MTV. A teenage boy started with PDD, and after dropping his girl partner several times they were adviced to rehearse the liftings in a swimming-pool with the water hip-high, so she would only fall into the water and not to the floor. It worked very well... at least in the moovie.

I have never done pas de deux, but i wish i could. They dont really do it that much at my studio, as there is only like one boy ballet dancer. He is in a level higher up than me so i will not get to do pas de deux sadly

LOL I have been dropped sooooo much. The only guy at our studio is not very strong, but for some reason our teacher thinks he should practice lifting (as opposed to strengthening WITHOUT a guinea pig) and I'm usually the one he lifts. It isn't very far to the ground though because he's not very tall. lol. But other than that, pas de deux is SO AWESOME!!!!

Thanks for the post! I was always terrified of being to heavy for PDD. So now I think I will try and do it in a SI cause my studio doesnt offer it.

Thanks so much for the post! Did my first pas de deux a few months ago for the Nutcracker. It was so fun! It does definitely take lots of work, though!! I hope that I can do it again soon, you just really have to get used to your partner.
