Hi Carla, Swarovski are the most popular stones to use, you can also use Preciosa Viva 12, they sparkle as much as the swarovski but are a lot cheaper. They come in packs of 1440 (10 gross). They come in lots of different colours, but the most popular is Crystal AB. And you need to use size ss16 or ss20.
Theres different makes of glue but preferably you need rhinestone glue, either gemtac, crystal couture, or Jewel bond. Dont use a glue gun for stones as it can get very messy.
If you have any more questions dont hesitate to ask.
Thanks Jane. X

Hi Kim. I gather mine like you would a fan, then machine it together. Then sew it to the costume. Not sure if there's an easier way but thats how i do it and it works for me.
Good luck, Jane. X

Hi hannys mom, you're better to start with either a swimsuit or leotard pattern and just adapt it from that. I would suggest using the cheaper lycra rather than the expensive metalic or printed lycra to start with just incase it doesnt work out first time.
Good luck, Jane. X

You can always buy nice fabric & cut flowers from that eg a floral fabric that has large flowers. It could work out cheaper for you.

I make costumes . Buy a basic pattern and some pattern paper which costs about 50p a meter .Trace around the pattern onto the pattern paper. You can then alter your home made pattern to your own design without ruining the original paper pattern and use it over and over again .

Hello,
I have just started making freestyle costumes. I competed for aroud 10 years so am looking forward to hopefully being involved in another side of it all now.
There are some lovely costumes posted on this thread! I am hoping to post a picture of one of my costumes once I become a full member
