find a basic pattern - if you go back a couple of pages I have listed some available to purchase - the easiest ones that you trace over. For an easier back (zips are quite hard to fit properly if you are a beginner) make a circle with elastic - instructions will be on the pattern.

Try Kwik-sew's swim and action wear by Kerstin Martensson. It's a book which gives really useful advice on how to sew with stretch fabrics and includes a master pattern for leotards/swimsuits. It also tells you how to adapt the patterns to make your own design.

I would buy some reasonably cheap lycra and trace off the pattern to make a basic leotard first to check for fit then start to adapt the pattern to make a more individual costume.

Good luck

I looked for the same but couldn't find any. The only idea I had would be to find a dress making course. Did you have any luck in the end?
