Take your left hand and make a clasp shape looking at your palm.
Bend your left leg at your knee.
Then take your hand and grab hold of your leg.
Lean on a wall at this part or have someone help you.
Copy again number 1 but use your RIGHT hand.
Grab your left leg again.

Its easier to have someone with you to push down on your shoulders.

ALWAYS WARM UP BEFORE IT (:

hey

i'm having real problems I have the bendiest back in my dancing and I can do the left, right and box splits perfectly and when I do a crab I can stand on my feet but when I try to do a back catch I can not grab my foot it is just hitting off of my hand and I have been trying it for 3 yeaars now but nothing is happening and we think it might be my arms but i'm always streching them really hard and even then they are quite bendy so I have tried everything I can think of can anyone PLEASE HELP!!!

Hiya,

I have used alot of the stretches on here and with the help of some other people on dance.net and at dancing and it has helped me alot. Some of the stretches that I tend to do which really help is:

- Splits and then lean back and try and hold your back leg.

- go onto one knee and stretch the back leg out. Hold the foot of the back leg and lean back.

- Practice over splits and leaning back.

- Do lots of back bends and walk your feet towards your hands to get a tight back bend.

- lie on the floor and use your hands to push your back backwards untill you can see behind.

- Do four arm balances and put your legs into the split possition above your head.

Hope this helps!

But remember to always warm up as you can do your self a very bad ingury and make sure that you do these stretches often to get the most out of your back catch.

Love Harri*xx

Hello ..
My advice would be to keep stretching your back in practical ways which includes a lot of moving it basically!
You should put your hands on a wall and kick your leg up from behind you and tilt your head back and keep doing this until your back starts to loosen.. then you keep stretching it and pulling it up and then catching it and you'll soon do it.
lots of love yasmin x

If you want to do the backcatch then you have to practice EVERYDAY and strech everyday and practice your splits. if you can do the splits then you should be able to do it more than someone who cant do the splits. But if you want to make your backcatch persect then stretch practice your splits and make sure you practice your BACKCATCH MORE! i hope you take the advice well :D
