Hiya

I found a backcatch hard up until about 7-8 weeks ago :D

But can someone give me advise to get it straight as i can catch it and pull it high but it doesnt totally straight but quite near :?

My advise to leard is to lie on the floor on your tummy and pull up your leg from the back

or you could kick your leg up the back and try and kick your head then eventully bring your arms back and try and catch ( i know its hard but pratice makes perfect as i would say as it happend with me!)

Its quite hard to explain what you done :? Im finding it diffictult to remember :?

Hey Everyone

One thing that you need to be able to do a back catch is STRONG stomoch muscles!

At least 200 Sit~ups must be done daily or you will injure your back because of the pressure!

Belive me ....Iv experiened it and was not able to dance for months!

You also need flexiable shoulders so some tips to get those shoulders flexi are:

doing a crab beside a couch or sofa and putting you feet on the edge of the sofa (while still in a crab with hands on the floor)
and pushing your shoulders over your hands!

Only do this for a couple of seconds!

Also sit on the floor (stomoch facing the celling)

Put your hand on the floor behind your back with your pinkys touching and pull you body out without moving you hands .....This is a fantastic strech but a sore one :D

These are just some tips that make catching your back catch easier!!

Groovytwins have covered the rest!! :D

REMEMBER .....Sit~ups must be done!! :D....Dont want to put

too much pressure on your back!!

Hope this has helped[grin0

Lots of love

hey dancers

i havent learned how to do a back catch yet but i like the idea some one posted that you use a dressing gown rope that sounds realy good. If all else fails you could always ask some one to help pull your leg up for you but remember to tell them when to stop!

hery everyone...i have been doing all these little things to help me do a backcath and it has finally paid off i can now do it yey! i thought that the most helpful stretches were: the dressing gown but i used a long sock and folded it over, and leaning back in splits. it all comes with practise you wont be able to do it over night. i was struggling with catching it for weeks and then it just happened. dont give up and keep stretching! p.s make sure you are always warm before stretching otherwise you will seriously damage yourself.
