Hi
To be honest the only person you should be taking advice from is your dance teacher as she is the one who knows your strength
and weakness in your ability to do this move .
Sorry to be a spoilsport but your safety comes first.

Hiya, im always trying to do a back catch and im almost there. But as everybody alse has told you to get a tie/dressin rope and i tried that for a week and i almost had it.But when i told my dance teacher he said that could be the worst stretch for your back cause your back can go as far as it needs if you stretch it even more you will get a bad back which can cause problems during pregnancy.

hiya

you should always strech before these help me with my back catch

* do the splits up the wall then get somone to lift your body up to your leg and then try 2 hold it for 15 seconds.
*lie on the floor on your tummy and then grab your leg and try to pull it over your head and hold it for 20 seconds
*get a dressing gowned rope and tie it to your foot and pull it over your head whilst standing up.
* stund up straight then go to a windowsill and put your leg on the windowsill but not facing the window then stand really straight and try to stay ther for as long as you can.

i hope i've helped you with your back catch and it helps me alot

hiya here is my advice ( it helped me )
evryday start to warm up when you have finished get somebody to help you get in to the crab holding on to there ancles and swaying back and forth you will feel it strech then lay on the floor and go into the splits and stretch back to your back leg ( in the splits remember) that will also stretch and do that for 2 weeks and your back catch should be streghter than it was before

hi! at first just try pulling your leg up to your head first, then when you know you can get your leg in the right position kick back and try catching with one hand, then try with both. it takes a lot of practise to actually get it and you really need to strecth well before trying it.

Hi,

I have been a trainer of contortionists for 40+ years and my teaching for a successful back catch is as follows:

1. get down square in splits and be able to sit in them in comfort - then:

2. get down into slight over splits (6 inches or 15cm) and be able to sit like this in comfort.

3. in the oversplits do backbends so that your head is brushing your rear thigh. Then, when you can do this with ease -

4. on your front on the floor do the oversplit in comfort - then

5. stand and do the back catch!

Right well, at my dance cless we use what looks like alice band type things - but you can use anything like an old rag off old clothes, or a dressing gown tie or whatever you can find.

* Then, rap it round your ankle which ever ankle is strongest

* Grab the other side of the band in whichever hand you are comfiest with.

* Pull the band upwards and get as straight at you can.

* Keep practicing this :D.
