THE FACTS ABOUT CAPOEIRA

Capoeira made by slaves centuries many centuries ago in brazil.it is one of the first forms of hip hops it is also belived to be one of the most leathal martial arts in the world it is a martial art being Disguised as a ritual dance so they could protect them selfs aginst their masters and the masters wouldn't even think anything of the dance. but alot of the slaves had to use this form of dance/martial art to survie the conditions they were put under. this was their form of self defence. they started off in a circul and clap hands and beat drums and made ryhtum witch they would move to and sang songs of happiness and sorro LOOK BELOW. they would do all the below moves coming close to hitting or if they did not to hurt on another each other never hitting anyone in less to protect them self or for fun but not in volience it was more of a practice for the day when they would need to use it

Pretty cool. Definitely something that is a must see, considering I really had no idea what capoeira was besides what videogames have or whatever. lol

Hrm... This was created in brazil you said? I thought it was Africa?

Awesome stuff to learn. What else about the movements/moves?

Though you might want to correct the bit about it being a form of hip hop. And the bit about it being one of the first forms of hip hop. After all, hip hop came about in the latter half of the 20th century. Capoeira was around alot longer than that.

If Cap is the earliet form of HipHop, then HipHop didn't start in NYC. It looks to me that Cap's primary function was to defend themselves and hide it as a ritual. HipHop's (bboying specifically) primary function is to serve suckas. I still agree with the originators that HipHop came from New York, after all, they are the originators.

Capoeira is more commonly defined as a martial art than as a form of hip hop. Although, some of the moves are closely linked with breaking and freezing. Capoeira started in Brazil as a form of self-defense. In order to disguise this martial art they choreographed the moves to resemble African dance moves. Capoeira is very ritualistic. While hip hop and capoeira do have visible similarities, they stem from two different cultures and purposes.

Just out of curiosity (I;m exploring different sites online)..where did you get your information?

Capoeira was NOT one of the first forms of hip-hop. Hip-hop began in NYC. Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian (that's where you heard about the African part!!) martial art. Keep in mind, slaves did create this form, and disguised it as a ritual, yes, and it was used for defense against slave owners, according to my past mestres (masters/teachers).

It's a beautiful martial art. Takes ALOT of work though, haha. I'd reccommend anyone who's into martial arts and breaking to give it a try. :)

Great post though!! Thanks for sharing the info!!
