THESE RULE COME INTO EFFECT ON MARCH 1.

1. All new competitors start at the beginner level regardless of the level they compete at offline. (I am not keeping track of your level, so please make note!)

2. Irish and Highland have 4 levels; respectively, they are beginner, novice, intermediate, and open/premier. Don’t ask about advanced beginner, prizewinner, or preliminary championships, as they don’t exist here at VIS.

3. To move into novice, dancers need to place 1, 2, or 3 overall. There is no minimum for placements to count; if you’re the only one in your event, you can still move up. To move into intermediate, dancers need to place 1 or 2, and to move into the highest level, dancers need to place 1st.

4. Only premier and open dancers are eligible for championships.

5. Monthly competitions will include 4 dances per level. It is recommended that you enter all 4 dances for your level, as I will no longer be moving dancers up within individual dances (for instance, you can no longer have your reel in novice and your jig in beginner).

6. Monthly competitions may also include special events such as trophy dances, championships, or choreographies. You don’t move up with these, and they may often be restricted (i.e., for premier dancers only or for pre-open dancers etc.)

7. NEW RULE! I will only place dancers who participate in the monthly activity. There really is no point in entering if you don’t play. The activities used to be optional (dancers who did them received bonus points), but they are now mandatory. They take very little time to complete, as they are rarely difficult. Please be active.

I will resume making .gif awards for those who take the time to enter as per rule 7.

Dancers who have reached the highest level may choose to go back to beginner if they wish - the fun's in moving up. :)
