Poms Help with a small pompon team! en>fr fr>en By PomPonGirl Comments: 320, member since Sun Feb 08, 2004On Fri May 06, 2005 01:22 PM
Hey everyone. My name is Tiffany, and this is my 3rd year on Pom. This year we have just 7 girls! We do pom for football season and dance for b-ball. We can't have more tryouts, so any ideas on how to make our team look 'bigger'. If we spread out, will we look like a bigger team? or will it just look weird? Also, should everything be insynce, as opposed to doing them in groups?? This would help a lot! Thank you a lot! 5 Replies to Help with a small pompon team! |

we had a small team the last 2 years too and we tried to spread out to make it look like we were a larger group but it just didnt work. it made it even more obvious that we didnt have a lot of girls and we had to make our transitions 2-8 counts instead of the normal 1-8 count or so. so yeah i'd suggest that you dont worry about making your group look bigger cuz as long as your all together and you have good choreography everyone will love it. and you can still do ripples and stuff. we did and it looked good. just focus a lot on trying to get everyone together and in sync and i think everything should be alright. well good luck! |

Hi,
Maybe ripples would help out so that the people see everyone doing something but at a different time. Maybe that would help out, I really dont know. Hope you have a great pom season ~*~Erin~*~ |

Thanks for the help! We normally have a lot of ripples, so we will probably have even more! lolz. We are having more try-outs, but as far as I know, there is only like 1 or 2 girls trying out, so it is still going to be small! Well, thanks for the help!

This may no help to make it look bigger, but you can try partner moves, like tossing the pom back and forth! I think it'll look cute because it's something not many big teams can achieve nicley because of space. |

Sometimes it can be an advantage to have a small team, it is easier to critque, you can have better precision, and it is also easier for your team to bond and be really close to each other. We had a team of 12 last year and even though we were samll we were a disciplined team, we had great precision, and we were all best friends. Our director always did our formations where we weren't spread out so much, I think it looks better if you have your girls closer together in formation than spread way far apart because have way to big of spaces between each other and it doesn't have a great effect. |
