Creative Movement lessons with a bible theme en>fr fr>en By Auntlele Comments: 11, member since Fri Oct 08, 2004On Fri Jul 01, 2005 11:12 PM
I teach creative movement and ballet and tap at a Christian school. I usually just teach the basics and then do a few whorship dances with them through the year. I'm trying to find some sort of lesson or even creative ideas for telling a bible story with their bodies. Any ideas would be so helpful!

I'm new to teaching creative dance, but I also teach at a christian preschool. I have started using popular children's bible stories for my lessons. Daniel and the lions den - have children pretend to be lions (can use variation of the hungry cat dance). The children are hungry, ferocious lions until Daniel comes into the den. Then the children are gentle lions. You can also start out with sleeping lions to involve stretching, non-locomotor skills.
I have also tried the Jerico march. I made a fake wall that could be knocked down. The children have to go around the wall 7 times. I used 7 different types of dance steps. Don't forget to stop and blow the trumpets so the wall comes down.
I was also thinking of trying Shadrach, Meshach, and abendigo in the fire. I would have the children play the three boys and also dance a fire dance (for the furnace).
Just some ideas ... Hope this helps! |
