How do I join the VIS?
Joining the VIS is simple! Fill out the “Card” in Sungurls post

and you’re in! But before you fill it out make sure you check out all the dorms so you know wich one you want to be in!
When you’ve decided on the dorm make sure you fill out the individual dorm sign-ups wich will be in you’re dorm.

What are the Dorms?
There are 4 dorms which are home to all of the VIS members:

Each dorm is great and has it’s own unique qualities. All dorms have special jobs you may be able to do and dorm rooms where you can actually have a room and roommates! The dorms members all work together as all of the participants have a very active imagination and they role play a lot. For example ~ at a dance everyone will post pics of their dresses and then you describe what you’re doing at the dance! It’s a lot of fun and you will make a ton of new friends in any of the dorms!
Arabesque Dorm: = Very Active, activities include dances,games,Miss Arabesque competition,Birthday celebrations,plays and more. New! Arabesque Website
Fouette Dorm: =Also Very active, Activities inclide, dances,vacations/trips,shows,games,B-day Celebrations,and dinners
Attitude Dorm: =Seems to be not quite as active but getting there! B-day celebrations,Lots of games,newletter,and fun!
Plie I Dorm: = Also not as active on the verge! Birthdays,Games,Peagents and sleepovers are part of the fun here!
What are the Departments?
Here at the VIS we have several different departments that you can join!
Academic Department:

In this department you can take classes such as creative writing, baking, dance vocab, fashion design and many more! Just go to the link and sign up for the classes you want to take.
Ballet Department:

Here is where we hold such classes as ballet, combo, pre-pointe, pointe, pas de deux, and many more! To join these classes go to the link and sign up in the registration form.
Disco Department:

Here you can compete in Disco Competitions,take classes and intensives.
Drama Department:

Here you can take classes such as improv, musical theatre, drama, voice classes, tech side of drama, and much more! Just go to one of the sign up sheets, post and participate!
Irish/Highland Department:

Here you can take heaps of different classes having to do with Irish and highland.
Jazz Department:

Here there are classes in technique(advanced and beginners/intermediate), choreography(adv. and beg./int.), and Hip-Hop! If you’re into jazz it is a great department! Just go to one of the many sign ups and sign up.
Lyrical Department:

Here is where you can take, you guessed it, lyrical! Just drop by and sign-up on one of the forms!
Music Department ::

This is a great department with music classes such as performance groups, music theory, instrumental studies and many more! Just drop by and sign up.
Tap Department:

Here is where you can take tap! It’s got a class for all levels! Just drop by and sign-up up for your specific level!
Not all classes work the same! Some request homework, some have other sites, and some are just simple role playing! Just read up on some past classes and see if they are for you.
How do I become a teacher?
Well, the easiest way is to first think up a class, something that you think you could teach for a while. Then pm one of the heads of the departments (the one you think your class would fit in best) and tell them your idea and ask to teach the class! If they feel your class is a good enough idea, you should be set! But right now (September 2004) lots of departments are starting over so becoming a teacher could be pretty easy.
What is Le Barre?
Le barre is, once again, a place of role playing! It is the VIS lunch room or café! You can post something saying so and so sits down for lunch and people will join you and so on
and so forth……! But it hasn’t really been used lately, let’s all try and get it going!
What are performances and how do they work?
Each dorm normally has its own ballet or production every so often, or sometimes there will be a really big one all together! To start with, there will be auditions which you can audition for! Then they will have rehearsals in there rehearsal room such as
dance.net . . . Then the performance will happen in the stage room
dance.net . . . ! Again it all has to do with a lot of role playing.
What are these virtual companies?
These are separate from the rest of the dorms and the departments. There are 3 different ones, and you can join 1, 2 or all 3!
Dance.net Ballet Theatre (DNBT):

In this company everyone rotates positions. So for one show you might be the principal dancer, and for the next show you might be doing costumes! In this company, everyone gets to experience all of the different parts of a company.
Pointe by Pointe:

In this company, they have already cast all of the principal and solo dancers, but you are still welcome to join the corps. The dancing parts stay the same but on each show, different people do different backstage jobs.
VIS Dance Team:

This is a dance and performing team for the whole VIS that mainly focuses on jazz and lyrical. They have already placed everyone on their teams, but if you sign up I’m sure she would put you on a team!

Vis is a great,fun,and caring enviroment. We will try our hardest to make sure that once you join you will have fun and get to know people!
A Few End Notes
All in all the vis is a lot of fun, but it all has to do with your imagination! It is as fun as you can make it! Think up a dance or an activity, become a teacher, get really involved and you will have the most fun! Any other questions, do not be afraid to ask!!
