Being Aliya's Kazakh compatriot, I guess I can say some words on the subject...
Kazakhstan is a huge country, as its territory can house simultaneously the territories of Great Britain, France, Spain, Germany, Austria, Netherlands and Japan. And part of Kazakhstan (two western provinces) is geographically situated in Europe. Thanks to this fact the Kazakhstan soccer team has been allowed to take part in the UEFA championship.
So, I guess if the gymnastycs officials will follow the example of EUFA officials and conclude that Kazakhstan is at least partly a European country, Aliya is free to take part in european championships....
