haha...I didn't know about the period thing until the last time I got my eyebrows waxed at the salon. EEEKKK.

anyways, I haven't read through all the posts so I'm not sure if anyone else said this...but to keep my eyebrows from being wisped out all crazy in diffrent directions (which happens after I shower in the morning) I use an eyebrow brush thing to tame them down, and then I put just a dab of hairspray on my finger and go over my eyebrows so they stay like that. I also read a great tip in a magazine once about using a toothbrush to do that-spraying it with hairspray and using it as an eyebrow brush! (as long as you don't accidentally brush your teeth with it later of course:P)

I heard applying vaseline on your brows before you pluck opens the pores so makes plucking less painful... I did this for years but have no idea whether it made any difference or not!

Great tips! I'm also one of those people who doesn't keep their eyebrows perfectly plucked all the time (I don't let them get TOO out of control, but I can hardly ever be bothered to pick up the tweezers) and this should really make me start caring for my brows more. Hehe.

I had my eyebrows threaded once in Malaysia - WOW. Threading is an Indian technique where a woman plucks the hairs from your brow super fast using thread (funnily enough). It's basically major fast plucking, and you have to be really skilled to do it. But boy, she did an amazing job! It was so cheap in Malaysia as well - 5 ringet, which is under a pound in British money, if I remember correctly. Or maybe it's about a pound... I don't know. I think it would be about 2 dollars American money. But here in England it's incredibly rare and would cost an absolute bomb!

Yep, next time I'm going to Malaysia, I'm definitely getting them done again!

This is a very good thread. Thank you for sharing! I'm going to try these tips immediately. I haven't read it through entirely, but if it's not mentioned: try only plucking the outer 2/3ds of your eyebrow. I'm not sure why that was, but I remember it as a tip from somewhere, so I'm sharing it here. :)

Hi

I'm from Glasgow and get my eyebrows threaded costs £5 which is what you would pay for a waxing session usually. The result is fabulous with threading!

i'm an eyebrow obsessive xxxx

I wish I had read this before I started plucking. I messed up mine I did too much. Now i'm not sure weather I should wait and let it grow back in or what! Great post

I had my hair cut and eyebrows waxed last week and what I didn't know was that a layer of skin comes off with waxing. Well I lost a chunk of skin off the top of my one eye and it hurt badly as well, even though she applied an anesthetic to keep the pain low. I hide my welt with foundation and eyeshadow.

TIP to help combat the "ouchies":

Five minutes before you start tweezing, use some mild teething gel, like Orajel on your brows. It numbs things up just enough. Be careful to keep it out of your eyes.

This is a great sticky.
